Create foreign currency transfer IDs to transfer euros (EUR) and/or pounds sterling (GBP) to your UNFCU savings or checking account.

After creating a foreign currency transfer ID, you can provide this ID to your local bank as the recipient bank number. The local currency that you transfer from your local bank will be deposited to your linked UNFCU account in US dollars (USD).
This service is available within select regions:
- EUR: Available to members with EUR-denominated accounts in countries within the Single Euro Payments Area (SEPA).
- GBP: Available to members with GBP-denominated accounts within the United Kingdom.

Select your local currency and the UNFCU checking or savings account that you would like to fund.

Use your foreign currency transfer ID
Provide your UNFCU-issued foreign currency transfer ID to your local bank as the recipient bank account number. You do not need to provide a SWIFT code or BIC code. The money you transfer will be credited to your linked UNFCU checking or savings account in USD.
Here is an example:
Sender information:
- Sending bank name: Your local bank
- Sender: Your name
- Sender bank account number: Your local bank account number
- Sending currency: The currency you plan to send from your local bank
Recipient information:
- Receiving bank name: United Nations Federal Credit Union
- Recipient: Your name
- Recipient bank account number: Your UNFCU-issued foreign currency transfer ID
Quick tip
When sending GBP, your local bank may ask you to provide a branch sort code and account number:
- Branch sort code: 9th through 14th character of your foreign currency transfer ID
- Account number: 15th through 22nd character of your foreign currency transfer ID
Foreign currency transfer ID FAQs
A foreign currency transfer ID allows you to transfer euros (EUR) and/or pounds sterling (GBP) from your local bank to your UNFCU savings or checking account. The money will be deposited in US dollars (USD).
As a security measure and for our compliance requirements, UNFCU may contact you for additional information. Remember that UNFCU will never ask for your Digital Banking login credentials.
Foreign currency transfers are processed through UNFCU’s partnership with correspondent banks. Although we provide our members with a foreign currency transfer ID to facilitate such transfers, each bank has its own compliance guidelines. Some local banks impose their own fees. As a result, the timing and costs of the transfers may vary.
You may create one foreign currency transfer ID for each local currency. We currently offer this service for euros (EUR) and pounds sterling (GBP). We plan to expand to additional currencies in the future.
Transfers are usually credited to your account within one business day. Occasionally, transfers may be delayed due to the correspondent bank's compliance guidelines.
If you do not see the amount credited within one business day, please contact us.
UNFCU does not charge any fees for foreign currency transfers. Your local bank or the correspondent bank may charge a fee.

UNFCU reserves the right to cancel your foreign currency transfer ID if it is inactive for six (6) consecutive months.
